Although photography wasn’t one of the things my parents taught me as a kid, perspective was. Being from a small town in the south, they encouraged me to go out into the world and experience things for myself, seek out new ways of looking at things and to never be satisfied with the status quo. I’m not sure if they meant it literally or not, but I took them at their word. And it plays heavily in the images I make.
Being a photographer is all about the adventure for me. Sometimes that adventure takes me to a place I’ve never been. Other times, I’m shooting something a little more comfortable. Either way, there’s no place I’d rather be. Collaborating with new clients, going to amazing places, meeting interesting people and discovering something new.
Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work and collaborate with some great people for clients like Taylor Guitars, Cobra Golf, TaylorMade Golf, Life Technologies, Sebastiani Vineyards, Choice Hotels, University of California San Diego, Museum of Photographic Art and San Diego Union Tribune.
I’m a firm believer in doing what you want (once you figure out what that is), doing what you think is right and doing something that, when you’re 60, you can look back and say, “I’m proud of that.”
So far so good.
